Marquee Hire Yorkshire

Marquee Hire Yorkshire

Over the last decade marquee hire has grown exponentially within the UK resulting in marquee hire becoming a multi million pound industry. Due to the popularity of the marquee hire this has driven the cost right down and marquee hire has become a luxury that not only the rich and famous can afford but the general public as well. With the use of the Internet it is fairly common to purchase goods from shops and businesses that are not necessarily in your area, or even in the country. Marquee hire is a little different in that most marquee hire companies state which areas they can work within such as a 20 miles radius or they actually state the towns they cover such as the whole of the Yorkshire area including South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. This covers quite a large area including Scarborough, Bridlington and East Coast, Beverley, York, Harrogate, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Wakefield, Doncaster, Rotherham and all surrounding villages and towns. It may be the case that some companies have different branches around the UK and so can accommodate every county, but check with the company before you hire your marquee.

Yorkshire is a great place for hosting an event within a marquee hire because there is so much greenery and countryside, you will never be short or choosing a plot of land. Although it has built up cities with the hustle and bustle of the traffic and high rise buildings you never have to go too far to come across a grass field or an open space. The only aspect in Yorkshire to be careful about when choosing your marquee hire venue is that although it’s easy enough to find some greenery it’s quite hard to find some greenery that’s flat. A lot of the countryside in Yorkshire is hilly and uneven, but if you stick to playing fields and grasslands then you are in a better position to find a great place for your marquee hire.

One of the ways to find a great venue for your marquee hire in Yorkshire is to ask your marquee hire company, even if they don’t offer a venue themselves they will be able to point you in the right direction of surrounding areas and surrounding companies who offer their land for hire.

For Gutter Cleaning: The corners of the home are good starting locations since this is where the downspouts are typically located. It’s best to start near the downspout and work away from it to avoid pushing additional debris into it. Begin at the part of the gutter closest to the downspout. This is recommended because after you finish the downspout area and the gutters around it, it would be easier to bring up a hose or what not and send any bottom debris from that end to the downspout and it should carry it down the spout, if the gutters is angle correctly. A little less ladder movement.

Just to give all you do-it-yourselfers another tip, you can make the best homemade window cleaner that there is, it is actually just dish soap (if you can find an ultra type dish soap is best) + water, that’s it! There really is no need for anything else. I would never use commercial glass cleaners that add chemicals like ammonia, vinegar and or alcohol. These chemicals are designed to disinfect and evaporate window cleaning solutions at a higher rate than normal. This would not be too bad if you can wipe off the window really fast!

Hope these tips help.

10 Best Carpet Cleaning Tips

10 Best Carpet Cleaning Tips

Anyone who has carpeting in their home or office understands that there comes a time for carpet cleaning.  San Diego is a city where life can be difficult on any carpet when one considers the climate, the sand and other elements that can lead to the buildup of dirt, grime and stains that negatively affect the appearance of a carpet.  Rug cleaning is also a necessary chore for those who prefer this mode of floor covering, and below you’ll find 10 basic tips for carpet cleaning.  San Diego residents can help themselves by following some of these basic steps before contacting a professional for help.

10 Carpet/Rug Cleaning Tips

Below you’ll find some basic tips regarding the cleaning of your carpet.  Rug cleaning strategies may also work within this approach as well:

1.     Treat Stains with Care

Stains happen with carpeting – that’s simply an unavoidable fact of life.  However, what one does in reaction to these stains makes all the difference.  Rubbing and scrubbing aggressively only weakens the carpet’s fibers and can lead to a stain becoming permanent.

2.     ‘Bandage’ Your Stain

After you’ve properly dabbed and treated a stain, leave a dry cloth on top of it with something to weigh it down overnight.

3.     Avoid Heat

Do not apply an iron or any other source of heat to the fresh stain, as it could do more damage.

4.     Bleach and Lemon Juice

Bleach without chlorine and lemon juice have proved to be particularly effective with mold and mildew.

5.     Do Not Leave Spills

Generally, the faster you work on a spill on the carpet, the better your results will be.

6.     Keep it Clean

Some stains are the result of the rubbing/grinding in of daily dirt.  Vacuum the carpet regularly to minimize the chance that this will occur.

7.     Keep Dirt Out of the Area

Experts have been saying for years that if you place door mats and the like outside of the room, you will minimize the amount of exposure your carpet has to dirt and dust.

8.     Start with Hot Water

Hot water should be the first substance used on a spill.  It helps to remove the stain before it embeds in the carpet fibers.

9.     Club Soda

For particularly notorious stains such as red wine, club soda has been shown to be very effective for use immediately after the spill occurs.

10.Professional Help

If you are unsure of how to proceed with any problem with your carpet, do not hesitate to seek professional help.  It’s always a better decision to spend a bit of money on this form of carpet/rug cleaning than risk having to incur the enormous expense of replacement.  Contact J&M Carpet Cleaning, Inc. of San Diego to schedule a consultation.

How Postcodes Can Be Used to Improve Business Operational Efficiency

How Postcodes Can Be Used to Improve Business Operational Efficiency

Postcode Overview

There are approximately 1.7 million Postcodes covering the United Kingdom – a mix of large user Postcodes for businesses who receive large quantities of mail, non-residential Postcodes for small businesses and residential Postcodes which are shared, on average, by around 15 residential properties – usually a street.

One important feature of the Postcode system for businesses is that it is hierarchical – Postcodes are geographically grouped into Postcode Sectors (e.g. all Postcodes beginning with UB7 0 are grouped together) which in turn are grouped into Postcode Districts and these are grouped into the 124 Postcode Areas (e.g. UB). This makes it a perfect framework for covering the UK from a national level to a local street level.

To find out more about the Postcode read our related articles on the History of the Postcode and the Postcode Structure.

Locating Customers

One of the simplest uses of the Postcode is to find out where a customer (business or residential) is! Punch a Postcode into Google maps or multimap and you will see – reasonably accurately – where your customer is. In general the Postcode will take you to the correct street and from there you should be able to find the house number.

This ability to locate customers, prospects or suppliers has been extended using software systems that can then take a number of locations and plan the most efficient (quickest and most cost-effective) route to create a sales persons call plan or a logistics delivery route. Such systems can save a business hundreds of thousands through such efficient planning.

Locating customers in this way is also used to allocate customers and prospects to field sales teams where sales territories and areas are defined by Postcode (see below). For example, if you receive an enquiry from a customer whose location is in LS26 3PX then you can easily allocate that prospect to your sales person who is responsible for the LS26 Postcode District. This is one of the most common applications for Postcode wall maps.

Sales Territories

The most common way of defining field sales areas is also through the use of the Postcode system. Postcode Sector or District maps are generally the most popular maps for this purpose as they offer a a contiguous and complete coverage of the United Kingdom and can be allocated to names sales people based on the persons home location – a sales person living in Harrogate may cover the postcodes in North Yorkshire and someone living in Manchester may cover Lancashire.

But using the Postcode can also make it easier to ensure that your sales people have the same workload or sales opportunities. Using your customers Postcodes, you can run some analysis to determine the number of customers in each Postcode District and then allocate Districts to your sales people, adding up the customers as you go, until your sales people have an equal number of customers to visit. This approach can help reduce one of the biggest causes of friction in a field sales force – who has the most sales (and therefore commission) potential.

Franchise Areas

Franchise businesses have boomed over the past 20 years allowing people to have the opportunity of being their own boss with the security of the backing of a large successful business. Most franchises plan their network using the Postcode to ensure that franchisees do not encroach on other franchise areas. We have worked with franchise companies where a Postcode District based franchise map (which illustrates for each franchisee the area they are allowed to trade in and market to) is provided as an appendix to the franchise contract.

House Cleaning Tips

House Cleaning Tips

If you are busy like me, you might look around your home at the end of your time-consuming day chasing children around and wonder when you might get the time to clean your home.  If I was not so drained after I get the children to sleep at night, I might just get down and scour my kitchen floor until it sparkles.  With such a chaotic schedule, I hardly ever have time to really get any good home cleaning done during my day.  But, I have learned some simple tips along the way to help me stay on top of my cleaning work, even on busy days when running a lot of errands.

View some cleaning tips below:

1.  If you own a dark colored sofa or couch and a cat or dog with light colored hair and must get the dog hair off fast, grab some packing tape and wrap it around your hand and rub until the hair is gone.  This also works great for a darker colored area rug.

2.  Keep some denture tablets under your sink and when your sink is starting to appear dirty from use, fill the sink with warm water and drop 7-10 tablets in the water.  Let them dissolve and sit for about 30 minutes.  Then rinse out the sink using some warm water and you should have a nice clean sink.

3.  If you have guests visiting and need to clean your toilet quickly, drop 2 Alka Seltzer tablets in the toilet water.  Then, wait a few minutes until they dissolve, give it a quick swish with the toilet brush and you are finished!

4.  When you get up in the morning make your bed immediately.  Do not put it off until after your shower or after breakfast.  Just quickly make the bed right away.  This will make your bedroom have a clean look right away.

5.  Get your carpet especially clean by sweeping it with a broom.  The sweeping helps loosen the dirt that is hard to see.  Once done sweeping, then vacuum and enjoy how clean your carpet looks.

6.  Remove crayon from a wall by rubbing some Colgate toothpaste on the wall with a damp sponge.  Make certain to rub carefully to avoid rubbing paint off the wall.

7.  If you do not have any paper towels and have company coming over and need to clean a glass sliding door or a window, take a newspaper and dip in vinegar.  Wipe the vinegar on the glass and rub until nearly dry.  Then shine with a dry sheet of newspaper.

8.  Quickly air out your garbage disposal by cutting up a ripe lemon and putting it down the drain.  Turn on the disposal and let it run.  Your disposal will then smell like lemons and you will be refreshed.

Car Accidents Increasing Claims

Car Accidents Increasing Claims

Road accident occur throughout the world and the problem is so severe, that it is estimated there are more than 1.5 million fatalities because of car crashes. Those injured reach more than 50 million. Although the UK has a very good transport system and road safety devices, the rate of collisions that occur on British roads is greater than in any other European country. In the UK there are thought to be 40,000 crashes per year. More than 3,500 people killed yearly, and more than 30,000 are left seriously injured. There are some roads in the UK that have the worst reputation for crashes, these being the A682 Lancs and North Yorks Border, the A54 Congleton to Buxton and the A59 Skipton to Harrogate. Recently, Devon has also entered pole position for Britain’s worst roads, with car accidents increasing dramatically every year. Road crash hot spot In the West country there is one road that has a notorious reputation for horrific road accidents and severe personal injuries to motorists. This road is the A39, near Hartland in North Devon, and as the years have passed, it has taken more lives every year, not to mention witnessed a rise in accident claims. The road has claimed another victim this month, this time the crash victim was a father of two, and has become the third person in two days to die in a collision. Kevin Kendall, a 45-year-old motorcyclist 45 was killed in a crash involving two motorcycles and a car on Wednesday night, last week. A friend and former colleague Jo Cottell, 38, said Mr Kendall was “extremely popular” and commented: “He was such a lovely bloke. He never had a bad word to say about anyone.” Mr Kendall was riding a red Suzuki GSXR on the A39 at Summerville Cross. He was travelling with two other bikes- a black Ducati and a yellow Honda 600F, from the direction of Bude and heading towards Bideford. A police spokesman said: “Shortly after the West country Inn, two of the motorcycles collided with a black VW Golf waiting to turn right towards Hartland Golf and Country Club. “The riders of the Honda and Ducati were taken to North Devon District Hospital with relatively minor Injuries and were released after treatment, but the 45-year-old rider of the Suzuki died at the scene.” The two women in the Golf were unharmed. Mr Kendall is the latest in a string of people killed or injured on the region’s roads over the past few days. In three separate incidents yesterday, one woman sustained leg injuries in a collision near Modbury and another suffered a neck injury following a head-on crash near Cadbury in Mid-Devon, while a man was taken to hospital after his motorcycle was involved in an accident near Totnes On Thursday, an 18-year-old from Padstow, who has not yet been named, died following a three-vehicle collision at St Columb Major. On the same day, a woman died as a result of injuries she sustained in a crash on Wednesday, when a bus and a car collided on the B3297 between Helston and Redruth.

If you have been involved in a car accident, find out if you could receive a compensation claim.

Types of Automatic Pool Cleaners to Choose From

Types of Automatic Pool Cleaners to Choose From

An automatic pool cleaner is a device that removes foreign matters from your pool without or with minimal supervision. Instead of doing the cleaning manually, having such a device can give so much benefits not only for domestic pool purposes but for companies like resorts. This is because using this type of device not only saves time but effeciency as well.

With automatic pool cleaner, all you need to do to make it perform the cleaning is to plug your pool cleaner in and then turn it on and then let it roam and wait for a couple of hours – and you will notice the result. In fact, you can just leave your pool cleaner – just do your other tasks – alone as this type of cleaner is equipped of high tech features which enable it to perform thhe cleaning.

There three types of automatic pool cleaners – each has its benefits and disadvantages.

The Suction Side Automatic Pool Cleaner

This type of automatic pool cleaner is much cheaper as compared to other types. Suction side pool cleaner is attached to the suction system of pool or the pumps that draw water out of your swimming pool to be filtered. By attaching hose to one of your suction ports, water can just be pumped out and then let the device do the rest of the filtering, straining tasks.

Pressure Side Cleaners

A pressure site cleaner fucntions in the opposite fashion as a suction side cleaner does. This is because pressure site cleaner is connected to the return side of the filter instead of the intake. What gives this device that capacity to clean is the pressure that the filter return gives. This type of cleaner circulates clean and clear water throughout pool while accumulating all the debris inside its filter bag. It is important to note that when the bag is full, it must be emptied as this will make the cleaner ineffective if you don’t empty it as required.

Robotic Pool Cleaners

This type is perhaps one of the most expensive automatic pool cleaners in town. This is known to be a stand-alone device and all you need to do is to plug into an electrical outlet, let it on and then let it do its functions. It has thhe capacity that is closely similar to human as this device is designed to mimic human being in terms of quality in cleaning. Its robotic functions make pools clean. This handy little robot goes around your pool until all the debris are collected.

So, not that you have ideas on automatic pool cleaners, hope you are able to get the one that is ideal for your own pool – and enjoy the cleaning with your cleaning buddy.

Frequently Asked Marquee Hire Questions

Frequently Asked Marquee Hire Questions

Are you hiring a marquee for your event? Do you have a whole host of questions regarding your marquee and how to go about organizing a hire for your party? Here are some of the most frequently asked questions and answers regarding marquee hire to help you on your way.

What areas do marquee hire companies cover?

The area covered by the marquee hire company is completely dependent on the individual marquee hire company and usually where the business is based. The company usually states they work within a 20 mile radius, for example a marquee hire company based in York would cover Yorkshire including Scarborough, Bridlington and East Coast, Beverley, York, Harrogate, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Wakefield, Doncaster, Rotherham. They may even travel further a field to Lancashire and Darlington, Durham, Middlesborough, Redcar, Hartlepool, and Durham.

How many different types of marquees are there?

There are many different shaped and sized marquees to choose from. You have the choice of framed marquees and traditional pole marquees. What’s the difference? Aluminium frame marquees have no centre pole or ropes and can be erected on any surface. Traditional pole marquees have a canvas and is erected using centre poles, side poles, and guy ropes which are hammered into the ground. You also have the choice of Circus Tents, Yurts, Mughal-style Marquees, Trade Stands, and Two Storey Marquees.

Will the marquee damage the grass?

The grass where the marquee will be laid will not be ruined, the marquee is usually only laid  for a couple of days at the most and so once it is removed you may find the grass be a little discoloured but will recover very quickly.

Can you place the marquee on sloping ground?

If the slope is a very dramatic slope then probably the marquee will not be able to be erected on this part of the land, but if the slope is minimal then it should be fine. Floor leveling systems can be used if you do have a slope in your land or if the slope if more severe scaffolding can be used. A member of staff from your marquee hire company can come out to your land to give you a better idea if you are unsure.

Pressure Cleaners – A Current Look At The State Of The Industry

Pressure Cleaners – A Current Look At The State Of The Industry

Pressure cleaners, sometimes also referred to as waterblasters, high pressure water cleaners, steam cleaners (in relation to hot water pressure cleaners), is an area of technology which has been dominated by the Italians with a strong manufacturing industry supporting this product category.

Ten to fifteen years ago, around 60 manufacturers of pressure cleaners existed in Italy which is disproportionately much higher than any other country in the world.  Only recently, China has begun manufacturing and now have many manufacturing bases cloning pressure cleaners based on cleaners from Italy.

Whilst the entry of China into the pressure cleaner market has been very quick, the quality of the manufacturing process as well as the materials used are not the same as used in Italy.

In the area of pressure cleaners, China have made large inroads into the market of petrol powered pressure cleaners by cloning mostly Honda motors.  With manufacturing costs more attractive than anywhere else, the machines in various sizes and performance ranges have made a high performing pressure cleaner a very affordable option to the small electric pressure cleaners which cannot match the performance of the gasoline/petrol units.

The Chinese market has produced a number of small electric cold water pressure cleaners with varying levels of success in relation to reliability but the foray into Hot Water pressure cleaners has been much more limited.  The hot water pressure cleaner which heats its own water within the unit,   is a much more complicated unit than the much simpler, less complex cold water pressure cleaner.  Once quality control improves and the quality of steel is also improved, the Chinese machines will make very fast inroads into the Commercial/Industrial market of Hot Water Pressure Cleaners.

The pressure cleaner industry worldwide is not as collectively organised compared to the motor car industry, leaving very little statistical data in relation to market share or joint manufacturing research and development. The larger companies are concerned about sharing technologies and sales figures, therefore have no immediate want for an all encompassing body.

The other stumbling block with obtaining statistics from companies is that not of them rely on the same markets. Some focus solely on the small domestic markets with electric cleaners, others on the industrial markets with large petrol machines while the main companies manufacture machines for all types of markets.

Small electric pressure cleaners dominate the market share in Australia based on sales numbers.  This could also be similar around the world, although as noted above, there are no statistical evidence to prove this.
